Milan Fashion Week
Milan Fashion Week is where Fashion Week truly starts for me. I love the contemporary brands that dominate NYFW and LFW but I prefer seeing some of the older houses like Gucci and Versace.I always find it is more of a spectacle when it comes to MFW. Last season for A/W19, Prada brought back the Gothic teenage dream, Moschino made luxury housewife tack a thing of the runway and what can I even say about Gucci? There may have been a Victorian clown theme but at least no one was carrying their own head in their arms like they did in S/S19.
Whereas during the first two weeks of Fashion Month I can typically find a lot of pieces I would wear, MFW tends to be a bit more of a stretch, for me and my coverage it is definitely more about the show aspect. However, that's not to say that I don't find anything I like. Last season I really liked elements of the Versace show. The entire outfit Kendall Jenner wore looked stunning and I would happily have a go at wearing it. The same goes for the Emporio Armani runway, I loved the red and black theme. I just feel there is so much to appreciate when it comes to Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks.
Milan is also when the supermodels begin to really dominate the shows. As I write this post, the Max Mara show has just happened and a sort of supermodel holy trinity was formed by: Candice Swanepoel, Gigi Hadid and Doutzen Kroes; which was then followed by the ultimate insta gang: Joan Smalls, Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber and Gigi Hadid. During the S/S19 Versace show they created that iconic moment where the supermodels from the 90s came together to storm the runway in those amazing gold gowns, all to celebrate Givanni. I love seeing these displays and for some reason they only seem to happen in Milan.
Coverage
I am still really enjoying creating individual posts for each of the shows. I have to say it is more work than I intended and it has meant that I've had to push back some of the posts I had already planned and finished just before Fashion Month started. However, I do really love talking about fashion and this has been a great outlet for me this month.
I like being able to share my thoughts and views on shows which I would have been looking at anyway. This makes it slightly easier to write and also means that I can write a bit quicker. My favourite part of this method of posting is that it is fast paced. I love being able to write as I feel like it, rather than to a schedule. Obviously this is only a temporary change to my schedule but I hope to take some of this into my normal blogging. I am thinking of relaxing the schedule a bit.
So far with what I have seen from MFW, I am incredibly excited for this week because it looks set to be an amazing week.
